A warm kitchen sink at golden hour

For the wife who searched "married but lonely" at 1 a.m.

It's not a dead marriage. It's a roommate marriage — and there's a way back.

The one-word answers. The separate phones. The feeling you're the only one still trying. It has a name — and a fix you run alone. Three moves. Sixty days. He never has to know.

If you've ever typed one of these at midnight

  • why does my husband ignore me
  • husband never talks to me anymore
  • married but feel so alone
  • how to fix roommate phase in marriage
  • I do everything and he doesn't even notice
  • is my marriage over or am I overreacting

Close the other tabs. What you're living has a name, fifty years of research behind it, and a way out that runs entirely from your side of the house.

Eleven inches apart, miles away. If you know this exact silence — this book was written in it.

The answers, in order

One book. Three moves. Sixty days.

THE SET-DOWN METHOD book cover

The diagnosis

Why two people who chose each other end up speaking in schedules — and why it was never about love.

Drop the Rope

Take the pressure off without going cold — including the strange week when he notices and doesn't trust it yet.

Refill the Well

Two-minute moves that actually land on a guarded man.

Restore the Spark

Desire, and the big conversations — held last, where they finally work.

The toolkit

A day-by-day calendar, the script for "what's gotten into you?", and an honest guide to when a book isn't enough.

Buy it at 9:00, be reading by 9:02 — on the phone you're holding right now.

Why this one

You've probably got counseling quotes in another tab. Read this first.

Less, not more — half the method is subtraction. Week one is lighter than a normal week.
Built for one — no workbook for two. The whole sequence runs from your side of the house.
Shows its receipts — every technique traces to the published study — Gottman's lab, attachment science, demand-withdraw research.
Honest about limits — some marriages need more than a book. Chapter one says which — to your face.

Counseling runs $150–250 a session and needs him willing to go. This is $37, starts tonight, and doesn't.

A car parked in a suburban driveway at dusk

For every woman who's ever sat in the driveway a little longer than she needed to.

About the author

Delia Hart wrote the book she couldn't find at 1 a.m.

The Set-Down Method started at a kitchen table long after midnight, in a marriage everyone assumed was fine. Delia went looking for an explanation that didn't blame her, found it buried in 50 years of research, and tested the fix on the only marriage she had. These books are what worked — in plain English, with the studies attached.

Her qualifications are unusual for this shelf: no letters after her name, one thawed marriage, and a bibliography longer than most books in the genre.

Real women. Real Stories.

You didn't find this page by accident.

Delia's letter takes five minutes. If it's your house, you'll know by the second paragraph.
